March 12, 2020 - Chance Consulting Group response to COVID-19

March 12, 2020

To our teams,

With growing global concerns around COVID-19 (“coronavirus”), I wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety and well-being of players, parents, coaches, referees and all other guests of The Alberta Champions Cup and The Stampede Challenge (“events”) is Chance Consulting Group’s (“CCG”) top priority. At this time, we are following the lead of Alberta Health Services and other Canadian public health authorities but currently stand committed to running our events as planned for 2020.

First and foremost, I want to assure all teams that we are being proactive with this situation and are taking all appropriate measures to ensure the facilities we operate out of are safe and have protocols in place to ensure that they stay this way. Although our events are attended by many teams, they remain predominantly regional in nature. Furthermore, the demographic of attendees at our events are by in large under the age of 70 and are not part of vital service lines such as medical professionals, which are the current stipulations given by health officials for events that should be postponed or cancelled.

In the coming weeks, we will be working closely with the staff of each facility that we operate out of to develop specific and clear responsibilities and expectations of all parties involved. Examples of additional safety measures that are being considered include:

Introducing enhanced cleaning protocols on high traffic and high contact areas such as dressing rooms. Coronaviruses are easily eliminated by routine surface cleaning. Therefore, teams can expect strict requirements for clearing dressing rooms after games so that facility staff can sanitize surfaces before the next team enters.

Increasing communications and reminders with teams on important health and safety measures as well as social distancing measures that are to be taken throughout the weekends of our events.

While the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the current public health risk associated with coronavirus as low, we will continue to monitor for developments very closely. We encourage all teams to stay up-to-date through Canada’s Public Health website as well as to event specific updates on The Alberta Champions Cup and The Stampede Challenge websites.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you soon,
